This is a page for the 1969 Boston University Yearbook (titled The HUB, and available in our archival/research collections), with a photograph of Dean Muelder and highlighting the 1967 creation of the Boston Theological Institute (now Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium).

The Boston Universty School of Theology is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1969 on STH Community Day (September 18, 2019!) The STH Library has curated this exhibit of items from our archives and research collection as we warmly welcome the Class of 1969 back to the "School of the Prophets!"

Did you know? The Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium (BTI) now contains ten members, including BU's School of Theology and Graduate Program in Religion, Boston College's School of Theology and Ministry and Theology Department, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Hartford Seminary, Harvard Divinity School, Hebrew College, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary, and St. John's Seminary.

From the 1968-1969 School of Theology Bulletin:

In this day when revolutionary social changes, threatening hostilities, paralyzing fears, and conflicting moral opinions perplex and discourage even the wisest and bravest [people, BUSTH] seeks of offer the Church and the world a confident Christian faith and a constructive practical program of churchmanship and social action...a vigorous tradition of social concern continues in present study and active leadership related to every aspect of life..."

The STH Library maintains a page of resources highlighting the rich history of Boston University and the School of Theology, from its start as the Newbury Biblical Instute in 1839 through present day. This includes links to the School of Theology's People's History of the School of Theology, too!
